Anthropic launched new reporting tools for its Claude Enterprise clients on Wednesday. These features aim to provide businesses with greater visibility into their artificial intelligence expenditures and the return on investment derived from AI deployments.

The AI company's new suite of tools offers detailed tracking of team outputs, associated costs, and workflow efficiencies. This initiative comes as Anthropic highlights significant business growth, particularly for its Claude Code product, and notes a substantial increase in spending from its existing customer base. The company reported achieving operating profit in the second quarter and recorded 900% net revenue retention, projecting customer spending to increase ninefold by the third quarter of 2026 compared to the previous year.

Anthropic's new reporting capabilities are designed to address a growing demand from large enterprise customers for clearer evidence of measurable returns from their AI investments. The tools allow managers to review team activities over a specified period, analyze the work produced, assess the costs incurred, and identify areas where processes may have faltered. According to Anthropic, the data collected is not used for model training by default. The reports also include recommendations intended to enhance performance and efficiency. Additionally, the company is introducing pooled group budgets, enabling teams to manage their token spending more precisely. This move toward greater financial accountability is particularly pertinent as businesses seek to control rising AI costs, especially within software development.

Data from Jellyfish indicates that tools based on Anthropic models account for nearly a third of proposed code changes, with spending on these tools increasing tenfold over the past year, now representing approximately 2% of total engineering costs. The introduction of these reporting tools is intended to provide greater clarity and accountability for AI budgets, giving managers the insights needed to justify and optimize their AI expenditures.

The company's emphasis on enterprise stickiness strengthens its market position, especially as businesses look for effective ways to manage and understand their AI spending. This development occurs as Anthropic prepares for a potential initial public offering, with recent filings revealing substantial revenue growth and significant infrastructure investments. For instance, Anthropic reported $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026, a notable increase from previous periods. However, the company also reported a substantial net loss, largely attributed to accounting adjustments related to financing instruments, rather than operational cash burn.

Anthropic's financial disclosures also highlight considerable long-term commitments to AI infrastructure, including data centers and chips, with projected spending potentially reaching $1 trillion over the next two decades. These infrastructure commitments are supported by major technology providers such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. The company's strategy appears focused on sustaining customer growth and demonstrating value, particularly to larger clients who may be scrutinizing AI investments.

These new reporting features, which were in beta testing since September, are now generally available for Claude Enterprise plans. They include "smart reports," which track task usage and costs; pooled budgets for managing group spending caps; and in-app surveys to gather user feedback. Anthropic has cautioned that these reports are intended for adoption planning and not for evaluating individual employee performance. The move aims to provide businesses with the necessary insights to optimize their AI deployments and ensure a measurable return on investment.
